A CHARITY is looking for research volunteers, with or without experience, who would like to take part in a Heritage Lottery-funded project about women who worked in the munitions factories in World War One.
With the men away at war, women undertook this dangerous, yet vitally important work.
Despite the ever-present risk of health problems and explosions, it brought a new sense of independence and a change in their social status.
The charity, Shaping Voices, will research the impact on women’s roles and their contribution to the war: their stories, personal sacrifice, the risks, the friendships and the tragedies, with particular reference to the geographical areas where explosions occurred.
Shaping Voices wants to hear from anyone who is, through family or friends, to someone who worked in the munitions factory in World War One.
