A PUB that advertised its summer party by putting up posters illegally has been issued with fixed penalty notices by Hillingdon Council.

The council's Anti-Social Behaviour investigations team fined an employee of the The Swan in Iver £200 after posters were found near High Road, Cowley, and on the junction of Iver Lane and the High Street, Cowley.

Fly-posting is a concern for the council because they are often put up at busy road junctions, blocking the view for drivers and causing distractions. They are also an eyesore and can create litter.

Cllr Douglas Mills, cabinet member for community, commerce and regeneration, said: "Advertising in the borough should be presented neatly and displayed in appropriate locations, having gained all necessary permissions."
