GIRLS, staff and parents at Northwood College for Girls were celebrating once again this morning with more than 88% of the results achieving A*-B grades!

Headmistress Jacqualyn Pain said: “It’s clear testament to the phenomenal hard work and commitment that is demonstrated year after year by both our pupils and teachers.

“These excellent results reveal that more than 30% of our girls achieved straight A*-A grades, more than half attained seven or more A*-A grades and more than one third gained nine or more A*-A grades!”

Achieving 100% A*-A grades spells success in any language - and that is exactly what Northwood’s Latin, Greek and Persian GCSE students achieved this year. Single science students followed the winning formula, with a massive 97% of the biology exam entries attaining A*-A grades, and the results for both art and textiles paint a brilliant picture with 100% of the creative students’ grades being A*-B.

Miss Pain added: “The girls will go on to benefit from a personalised, academically-strong curriculum and robust enrichment programme in the sixthfForm – designed to enable us to develop courageous, independent-minded and resilient young women.”

Northwood College joined the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools, the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) in November, and next month it will merge with Heathfield School for Girls.

Miss Pain said: “Becoming a member of GDST means that our teachers will benefit from the most up-to-date educational resources and that our girls will have the opportunity to participate in a host of GDST learning initiatives and become involved in a spectrum of scholarships and prizes.”
