BORIS JOHNSON has three rivals for the Conservative candidacy for Uxbridge & South Ruislip at this Friday’s selection meeting.

The London Mayor has grabbed all the headlines since announcing his intention to re-stand for Parliament in 2015.

Speculation focused on Uxbridge when sitting MP John Randall announced he would be standing down next year.

Uxbridge is regarded as a safe seat and is part of Greater London, which would be important to Mr Johnson, who aims to serve out the final year of his term as mayor, even if he is elected.

David Simmonds is deputy leader of Hillingdon Council. He has represented Ickenham ward since 2002 and is responsible for education and children's services.

Less well known to outsiders is planning barrister Suella Fernandes. On her Twitter account, she describes herself as a free school proposer, Africa justice charity co-founder and Conservative campaigner.

Completing the line-up is Ruislip-born Simon Dudley, a banker, who is deputy leader of Windsor & Maidenhead Council.
