A PHARMACIST who works for Hillingdon Council's public health team has been named one of the best in the country by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Viral Doshi, 42, from Hayes, was one of four finalists in the Public Health Pharmacist of the Year Competition and narrowly missed out on winning the title at an awards ceremony in Birmingham.
Cllr Philip Corthorne, cabinet member for health, said: "Viral's colleagues nominated him because they felt his unique role as a pharmacist employed by a local authority and the incredible amount he has been able to achieve for Hillingdon residents, by working with, training and supporting local pharmacists, meant he would be a great candidate.”
Viral, who has trained more than 60 local pharmacies to screen lung disease and made it easier for vulnerable residents to access pharmacy services, said: “Having the opportunity to work in a team of specialists has allowed me to raise the profile of public health.
“When it comes to protecting and improving residents' health, we have put Hillingdon well and truly on the map.”
