THE London Wildlife Trust is celebrating the news of a £41,371 funding boost from the SITA Trust towards its Yeading Brook Meadows River Restoration in Hayes.
The project aims to enhance and restore the section of the Yeading Brook, enabling it to become a more natural, self-regulating and bio-diverse river corridor.
By diversifying the river channel’s structure, and through planting and natural colonisation, it hopes to provide the conditions for nature and wildlife to thrive.
Tom Hayward, reserves manager with London Wildlife Trust, said: “This project will offer us an opportunity to improve a heavily-modified river channel, not only improving the stretch of water for wildlife but also increasing people’s access and enjoyment of this river environment.”
Jools Granville, of SITA Trust, added “This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided worthy projects with more than £1.3bn.”
