A SURGE in skilled British workers hoping to relocate to Australia has broken the six-month targets of a new emigration agency.

Perth-based ISA Group, which opened its UK office on the Bath Road, Longford, in April, says almost half of inquiries have been from medical, engineering and building professionals.

Leanne Short, the group’s recruitment and migration manager, said: “We’ve had an excellent first six months in the UK, with 120 registrations alone from the recent Down Under Live exhibition in Birmingham.

“Of those registrations, just short of 50 per cent were from clinicians or nurses, people with a background in engineering, and tradesmen such as plumbers, carpenters and people with skills in the construction industry.

“There’s a significant skills deficit across a number of sectors in Australia, including those three areas.”

The UK is the third largest source of migrants to Australia, with more than 23,000 people making the move in 2013-14.
