NEARLY 350 people attended two Light Up A Life remembrance ceremonies held by Michael Sobell Hospice.
The annual event gives people the chance to come together and remember their lost loved ones whether or not they received hospice care.
The ceremonies were non-religious with poignant readings by members of hospice staff and the Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Catherine Dann.
There were also performances by the Lemon Tuesday choir, from Rickmansworth, who sang a collection of moving songs during the services.
Guests held a minute’s silence and lit a candle in memory of their loved ones and the Hospice Light Up a Life Tree was lit, with each light representing the life of someone who was being remembered. The tree will stay lit until 12th Night.
Guests could also write a message to their loved ones on a candle pendant, hung on a special remembrance tree.
The ceremony was one of more than 350 similar events held at hospices nationally.
This year, the hospice is also giving people the opportunity to celebrate the life of their loved ones by dedicating a star on their Light up a Life website http://www.light-up-a-life.org.uk/ which will shine for the whole of December.
Those who do this are asked to make a small donation to the hospice.
