PEOPLE in Hillingdon are being warned to be on the lookout for bogus doorstep callers.
Hillingdon Council's Trading Standards team has received a number of reports involving callers who either claimed to be offering home improvement work or pretended to be from an official organisation.
Cllr Jonathan Bianco, cabinet member for properties, said: "These rogue callers are preying on vulnerable people, such as the elderly who live alone.
“I would urge residents to check identification of anyone unknown calling at your house.
“Even if it looks legitimate, do not be afraid to contact the organisation to verify they are who they say."
You can also call police on the non-emergency number, 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.
