A CERVICAL cancer victim’s brother is fund-raising in memory of his late sister by joining Jonathan Dimbleby in a night-time 50km walk across London.

Robert Thompson, 31, of Carlton Road, Hayes, will be taking part in Dimbleby Cancer Care’s 50/50/50 event on June 5. It aims to raise £50,000 by the end of 2016.

This will be Robert’s second fund-raising effort for his sister, Ellie, having already completed the Windsor Half Marathon.

He said: “After Ellie passed away, I wanted to do something to give back to the charity as Dimbleby Cancer Care offered Ellie so much in the way of additional therapies, treatments, and support during her treatment.”

Robert’s girlfriend, Sian-Marie Jeffries, 23, grew close to Ellie during her illness and will join her partner in aiming to raise £1,000.

Dimbleby Cancer Care Director Robin Pritchard said: “We were very touched and moved by Robert’s fund-raising story over the last year and it’s great that he is keen to take part.”

Dimbleby Cancer Care was set up in 1966 in memory of broadcaster Richard Dimbleby and provides practical and psychological support to people living with cancer and to their families and carers.
