Mr Hurd has been a vocal critic of both the expansion of Heathrow and plans for HS2.
He has argued that the current HS2 proposals will negatively impact his constituency and supports plans for a tunnel extension to the other side of the Colne Valley.
He has been equally critical of a third runway, saying it makes no sense increase the frequency of flights over already densely-populated areas.
