MUSICIANS from across Hillingdon will take part in a special performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at Brunel University to mark the borough’s 50th anniversary.
Organised by Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra and Brunel, it will be part of a gala evening, showcasing the best talent from the area.
For the symphony itself, the orchestra will be joined by massed choirs from the borough and beyond for what promises to be a spectacular choral finale.
The evening, to be held at Brunel’s indoor athletics centre on Saturday, July 18, starting at 7.30pm, will also include a selection of arias from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Mozart’s Magic Flute, featuring rising opera star and Brunel alumnus Ross Ramgobin.
The Brunel barbershop group will additionally perform a selection of a cappella songs.
Setting the scene for the evening will be a scripted entertainment featuring local people, celebrating the borough as a place to live and work.
Tickets for the Hillingdon 50 Gala Concert are available online at www.brunel.ac.uk/galaconcert and www.hillingdonphil.btck.co.uk, from Pro Music International, 19 Swakeleys Road, Ickenham, or by calling 01895 674223.
