A SHOP owner who refused to deal with excessive noise caused by eight fans used to cool refrigeration units was fined after a Hillingdon Council prosecution.

Satpal Arora, owner of Kwality Food Supermarket on Coldharbour Lane, Hayes, had eight fans that were causing a nuisance to neighbours when in use.

Hillingdon served an abatement notice requiring him to insulate the units, but he failed to act on it.

Arora pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates Court to charges of failing to comply with an abatement notice and was ordered to pay a £580 fine, council costs of £710 and a victim surcharge of £53.

Cllr Jonathan Bianco, cabinet member for business services, said: "Despite presenting him with evidence that the noise made by eight fans were causing distress to neighbours, he did not take action.

“This prosecution shows that Hillingdon Council takes complaints about noise seriously and expects local businesses to operate in a responsible manner."
