A WEST Norwood man has pleaded guilty to a violent knife attack in Uxbridge earlier this year which left the victim requiring reconstructive facial surgery.

Glenford Patrick Walker, of Auckland Hill, admitted to causing grievous bodily harm when he appeared at Isleworth Crown Court last Monday, October 12.

Walker, 42, slashed his victim across the face several times which resulted in wounds of up to 12 cm in length.

The 30-year-old victim received reconstructive surgery and will remain with life-long scars after the attack at his workplace, a skip hire firm in Wallingford Road.

Officers were alerted of the attack on March 19 by medical staff at Hillingdon Hospital where the man had been admitted.

The victim provided officers with a description of his assailant and an enquiry was launched immediately.

Walker was identified by detectives from Hillingdon CID after they found his DNA on the handlebars of a bicycle left at the scene.

Officers also recovered fabric from a garment Walker had been wearing and, as a result, Walker was arrested at his home on May 1.

Detective Inspector Andrew Smith from Hillingdon CID said: "I would like to pay tribute to the victim who bravely provided us with information when he was dealing with trauma and shock immediately after being attacked. This helped us build the strongest case against Walker to bring him before the courts."

He added: “Criminals like Walker must accept that their actions will lead to consequences."

Walker will be sentenced on Friday December 4.
