TWO women who created a 'honey trap' to lure a man into a first date while his house was burgled have been jailed.

One of the women posed as the victim's date whilst her associate assisted in the burglary of his home in Hayes.

Sarah Ireland, 26, of Webbs Road, Hayes, and Amy Moffatt, 25, of Vandrough Crescent, Northolt, were each sentenced to two years in prison for burglary at Isleworth Crown Court last week.

They pleaded guilty to the offences earlier this year.

The women were filling a car with petrol at Sainsbury’s filling station in Lombardy Retail Park in Hayes, on May 12 at about 7.45pm, when they spotted a man at the next pump.

Moffatt got talking to the man, who was in his 40s, and encouraged him to give her his phone number.

She later sent him a text message arranging to meet and at 9pm that evening they met at Botwell Crescent and walked together to a nearby pub.

During the walk the victim told Moffatt his address, which she texted to Ireland.

Within minutes Ireland went to his home in Hayes with a male associate. They forced the front door open and found a teenage boy, whom they told they were searching for someone.

Ireland kept the boy talking while the male suspect stole jewellery and other personal belongings from the upstairs bedrooms.

When the two suspects left, the boy phoned his mother who returned home and called police straight away.

Detective Constable Okiki Okunola, of Hillingdon's Burglary Squad, said: "Both women played on the vulnerability of a boy in his own home and the trust of a man who thought Moffatt was a genuine love interest.

"The speed both women worked to that evening clearly demonstrates how calculated and heartless they were.”

The male suspect remains outstanding.
