YOUNG Hillingdon dancers will be hoping to impress to earn a spot in a prestigious dancing competition when auditions open next week.
Students from the Step into Dance programme will be given a half hour slot to show they have the promise, motivation and commitment to perform at Step LIVE! at Sadler’s Wells Theatre on 9 July.
The end-of-year event is an annual showcase involving more than 400 dancers from the programme, providing an opportunity for young dancers to perform on a prestigious stage.
The programme provides specialist dance training in different dance styles to students aged 11-18 from 200 schools in London and Essex with the best performers selected to audition after a series of Spring Sharings across London.
Step into Dance artistic and programme director Sue Goodman, who will judge the auditions, said: “Choosing pieces for Step LIVE! gets increasingly difficult every year.
"The auditions are there to give value to the process and performance by testing the commitment of the dancers.”
