HILLINGDON performance groups are invited to be part of the UK’s biggest Glee Club competition as entries open for next year’s Jack Petchey Glee Club Challenge.

TV presenter Graham Norton and X Factor semi-finalist Brenda Edwards are looking for ambition, enthusiasm and potential in schools, youth organisations, drama and dance groups, friends with a passion for performing, established groups or those just starting out.

Also judging in the grand final will be TV and West End star John Partridge, who played Christian in EastEnders and is now touring with Chicago The Musical.

He said: “The Glee Club Challenge is inspirational.

“I have been in this business for 30 years and I am as inspired today as I have ever been by the fantastic groups we judge.

“It’s not about being perfect and polished. We are looking for potential so come and show us if you feel you have it. Don’t be shy, come and do it.

“We are looking for potential with a capital P!”

The £5,000 prize competition is free to enter and offers free workshops and bootcamps with theatre and music industry professionals.

Entrants must be aged between 11 and 25 and groups must have between eight and 30 performers.

About 60 Glee groups will be shortlisted after the initial audition. Five regional finals in London and Essex will then select the best 12 groups to compete at the grand final, to be held at the O2 Arena on March 19, 2017.
