FREE, historic fun is arriving in Uxbridge this January, as fossils are uncovered once again at intu Uxbridge.

The history of the shopping centre was first displayed on National Fossil Day in October 2016, discovering that intu Uxbridge’s stone floor tiles originally belonged to an ancient sea floor more than 180 million years ago.

On Saturday, January 14, there’ll be another chance to discover the ancient history as a giant T-Rex visits Uxbridge, roaming the shopping centre at intervals throughout the day.

intu Uxbridge’s very own archaeologist character Frankie Fossil will also be taking young shoppers on a fossil hunting adventure around the shopping centre to see what they can discover.

Children will be able to pick up their mission kit, learn about the history of fossils and what to look for in-centre, plus take home a certificate for their hard work.

The fossil finding activities and chance to meet the giant T-Rex will take place from 11am to 12pm, 1pm to 2pm and 3pm to 4pm.

There are two types of fossil at intu Uxbridge which can be found across the lower ground floor. Body fossils are the easiest to spot, with markings that look like the body or the shell of a creature. Trace fossils look like footprints, showing where creatures have been.

intu Uxbridge marketing manager Natasha House said: “More fossil finding fun is coming our way and we can’t wait!

“Our young shoppers loved learning about the history of fossils at intu Uxbridge (and so did we!).

“There’s plenty to learn here in-centre and we hope shoppers of all ages enjoy hunting out some fossils."
