AN Eastcote man is hoping to raise more than £2,000 for a national blood cancer charity by taking part in the London Marathon.

Daniel Richardson will be taking on the famous 26.2 mile course in aid of Leukaemia CARE, a charity which offers support to patients, carers and health care professionals.

The 40-year-old building contractor has a personal connection to the charity as his mother suffers from a blood-related cancer.

This will be Daniel’s first marathon after running the Thames River Half Marathon in 2016.

He’ll also be running the Silverstone Half Marathon to prepare himself for the main event.

Daniel said: “My training is going well. I’m running three times a week and completed 11 miles on the 27th January.

“I’m following a stack training programme which I found online.”

Clare Brooks, who works with the Marathon runners at Leukaemia CARE, said, “Our runners make all the difference to people who need that bit extra support.

£I’ve followed all our runners, including Daniel, from the point of sign up and I can’t wait for Daniel to cross that finishing line”.

So far, Daniel has raised £500. If you’d like to donate, you can do so via a collecting tin in the Grant and Stone Builders Merchants in Pinner, or through Daniel’s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/DR2017
