BORIS JOHNSON focused his attention on his constituency on Friday with a visit to Hillingdon Sports & Leisure Complex where he opened the newly refurbished gym.

An investment of more than £500,000, by Fusion Lifestyle who operates the complex on behalf of Hillingdon Council, has resulted in a full gym refurbishment and installation of brand new, industry leading equipment.

The gym now offers Life Fitness Cardio & Resistance equipment, a Synergy 360XL functional rig and a Power Plate.

A new larger free weight section has also been built to enable more people to use this area and the indoor cycling studio has been completely refurbished.

This was Mr Johnson’s second visit to the site, having previously opened the indoor pool and sports complex in March 2010, in his role as Mayor of London.

The Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP said: “It’s great to see this level of investment in an iconic site like Hillingdon Sports & Leisure Complex.

“It’s important that we offer local residents great quality, accessible equipment to help them get active.”

General manager Rob Allsford says “It was great to have the new facilities opened by Boris Johnson.

“This is an exciting development for the complex.

“The new equipment is the best, and most advanced available.

“The refurbishment was completed ahead of schedule and really enhances the experience for members and users.”

Hillingdon Council leader Cllr Ray Puddifoot said: “Hillingdon is proud to be working with partners to deliver the very best in leisure and sporting facilities to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents.

“This is a great resource and we are pleased that its popularity is going from strength to strength.”
