Uxbridge Folk Club has announced a performance by a popular folk duo at the end of this month.

Emily and Hazel Askew, two sisters on the English folk scene, will play at the venue on March 30.

From dark ballads to uplifting dance tunes, they play with driving energy and the unity of two people who have played together all their lives.

The sisters use fiddle, melodeon and concertina to breathtaking effect, to get to the very heart of each song.

Their latest album, 'In the Air or the Earth', received critical acclaim, including Spiral Earth's Award for Best Traditional Album 2015.

As well as their acclaimed work as a duo, they are both developing individual career - Hazel with the very popular Lady Maisery, Emily most recently as part of the fine Elizabethan Sessions Project.

In support is an extremely young and very talented singer/songwriter from the North West, Iona Lane, who is starting to build a good reputation in the clubs.

Uxbridge Folk Club has been going from strength to strength over the last few months with extra seating needed to accommodate the growing audiences.
