A Hounslow resident pleaded guilty at South Western Magistrates Court accused of illegally using his mother’s Blue Badge for free parking in Hampton Wick.

Rampall Raj, of Rosemary Avenue, was fined and ordered to pay court costs totalling £933 after being caught using his mother’s badge to unlawfully park in Glamorgan Road, Hampton Wick, following a tip off from a member of the public.

Officers from the South West London Fraud Partnership carried out a targeted exercise to identify if any drivers were fraudulently using parking permits.

Officers found that Mr Raj was using his mother’s permit.

At court Mr Raj pleaded guilty and was given a £933 fine.

Councillor Geoffrey Samuel, Richmond Council’s Deputy Leader, said: “We will not tolerate cheats, and will make every effort to ensure that they are prosecuted for their fraud.

“It doesn’t matter if you are not from this borough.

“Using a Blue Badge, that does not belong to you, denies a vulnerable person a parking space.

“Think before you fraudulently use a Blue Badge. We will find out. We will prosecute.”
