Dogs Trust Harefield is appealing for ‘furever’ homes for three overlooked oldies.

Amber the German Wirehaired Pointer, Tyson the crossbreed and Benny the Pyrenean Mountain Dog. have a combined human age of 231 years but have yet to find homes.

At grand old ages of 14 (98 in human years), 10 and 9, the ‘pawsome’ threesome have responded well to training, challenging the theory that you can’t teach old dogs new tricks.

Richard Moore, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Harefield, said: “As much as staff are enjoying the presence of these loveable elderly residents, we would love to see Benny, Amber and Tyson rehomed so they can enjoy their retirement years with loving families.

“Unfortunately, mature dogs tend to get overlooked in favour of younger, dogs - however these adorable canines will make great companions.

“Dogs Trust never puts a healthy dog to sleep so we will continue to care for them for as long as it takes to find their ‘pawfect’ homes.”

Despite being the human equivalent of 70-years-old, Amber is looking for an active, adult-only home as she loves being out and about exploring – ideally with owners who have breed experience.

Tyson has been in kennels for more than 4,000 days and is yearning to spend his retirement years in a loving home.

In spite of his age, Tyson is an active soul and would love a private garden to play and sunbathe in.

Having been taught basic commands from his canine carers, the 14-year-old would like to have further positive reward-based training in his new home.

This terrific crossbreed is looking for an adult-only home with few visitors, ideally in a quiet location.

Benny is an independent chap who likes to take walks (and life!) at his own pace.

Nine-year-old Benny would prefer to be the only dog in the home, but he could potentially live with cats.

Food is the way to this boy’s heart and will help his new owners build a bond with him.

He is looking for a patient and sympathetic owner to continue his training. At night, Benny dreams of a garden to call his own in a quiet location.

If you think you can offer Tyson, Benny or Amber a new start and home, please call the team at Dogs Trust Harefield on 0300 303 0292 or visit www.dogstrust.org.uk.

As Benny is currently in foster care enjoying home comforts, please contact the rehoming centre ahead of visiting.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s leading dog welfare charity and has a network of 20 rehoming centres across the UK, and one in Ireland. The charity cares for nearly 15,000 stray, unwanted and abandoned dogs each year.
