A HAYES man will attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for Fastest Half Marathon Wearing a Straitjacket this Sunday.

Pardip Minhas, 49, is taking part in the first London Landmarks Half Marathon alongside 10,000 runners in central London.

Pardip is no stranger to weird and wonderful record breaking, having previously set the world record for Fastest Half Marathon Wearing Handcuffs in December and attempted others including Fastest While Spinning A Fidget Spinner, Fastest Dressed As A Swimmer and Fastest In Flip Flops.

He said: “My wife once said to me that I keep paying for races but I'll never win any. My reply to that was I might not be an elite athlete but I'll achieve a Guinness World Record, which will become personal to me.

“I am aiming to achieve a few Guinness records before my 50th Birthday on November 29.

“My boys Harry (7) and Gary (3) run up and down the living room with their arms folded across their chests trying to copy me. Gary says he's training to break my world record.”

The new race showcases The Grand, The Quirky, The Hidden of central London.

It will not only include familkiar landmarks such as Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson’s Column, the Gherkin, the Shard, the Tower of London and the London Eye, but also unearth and promote the hidden highlights of the city, with an emphasis on historical and cultural gems.

The race is the brainchild of Tommy’s, the largest pregnancy and baby charity in the UK.
