WORK on creating a new public open space in West Drayton is nearing completion.

The area, which has taken over a year to complete, includes improving the canal footpath, the creation of moorings and footpaths linking the canal to Horton Road, improving the water features on Ironbridge Road and regenerating 40 acres of derelict land.

The final work on Prologis Park will be completed this Spring when the parcels of land will be officially handed over by Prologis UK to Hillingdon Council with an ongoing contribution towards its maintenance.

Prologis, the UK’s leading developer of industrial logistics parks, is spending £3m on the project.

Prologis worked with Groundwork South London to create a feature wall commemorating local brick makers and the lost brick fields of West London.

The wall was constructed using bricks made by schools and community groups, and the developer has installed a number of information boards around the site to explain the important heritage of the area.

As a further reminder of the past use of the site, the main road into Prologis Park West London is called Clayfield Way.
