A LANGUAGE teacher from Ruislip has been rewarded for the quality of lessons and teaching she provides to children in the area.

Karine Chassot teaches extra-curricular French classes through the La Jolie Ronde programmes at nurseries, primary schools and open centres in the Ruislip area.

Karine, who speaks four languages, was honoured with the La Jolie Ronde Licensee of the Year Award for London and the South.

Born in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alps region, her passion for languages was first ignited from the age of 10 when she was taught both English and Latin at school.

She also learned German, Spanish and Japanese and, when the option came to study in England as part of an exchange, Karine jumped at the chance and studied for two years at Coventry University.

She settled in Ruislip and started work at Heathrow as a passenger services agent.

Later, having started a family with her partner, she found it increasingly difficult to juggle family life and shifts at the airport and came across a tutoring role with La Jolie Ronde Languages for Children, who were looking for French speakers.

Starting with just 18 pupils four years ago, today Karine runs a flourishing business, teaching French to 150 pupils a week.
