A COUPLE who volunteer at Dogs Trust West London, based in Harefield, completed the annual Thames Bridges Challenge last September to raise more than £700 for extra toys at the re-homing centre.

The 15.5 mile walk takes place through the centre of London along the Thames and took the couple just over five hours.

Joan and Tony Waller described the walk as gruelling as they had to navigate through huge crowds of tourists along the embankment.

Re-homing centre manager Richard Moore said: “We’re so grateful to Joan and Tony for this very generous donation. They already do so much for the centre by walking and fostering dogs here under our Home From Home scheme.

“By completing the Challenge they’ve really gone above and beyond for our dogs, who are already enjoying the huge delivery of new toys!”
