A TEAM of more than 60 volunteers from General Mills in Uxbridge celebrated Earth Day by helping to renovate the gardens at Iver Environment Centre, run by community charity, Groundwork.

Staff swapped their screens for shovels as they helped maintain the grounds, which are used to grow fruit and vegetables as part of a programme that teaches school children about healthy eating.

General Mills, which produces the Häagen Dazs, Nature Valley, Petits-Filous, Old El Paso and Liberté, sponsors the centre's nutrition initiative and continues to support Groundwork.

Ruth Shelton, Groundwork Project Manager, who runs the centre, said: “We have a fantastic relationship with General Mills and their continued support is invaluable.”

Ben Pearman, managing director of General Mills Northern Europe, added: “The work that Ruth and her team do makes such a brilliant contribution to the community here in Uxbridge - and we’re delighted to be a part of that.”
