THE UK’s most popular tennis league for adults is coming to Hillingdon.

Local Tennis Leagues are revolutionising the sport with nearly 200 up and running.

Matches are played on public courts and the leagues are designed to make it easy for anyone to play friendly, competitive singles matches, whether they are in a tennis club or not.

“Public courts often have great coaching for adults or sessions for children, but there has not previously been a simple way for adults to play matches,” said Sally Kinnes, co-founder of LTL.

Affiliated to the Lawn Tennis Association, the league is open to men and women aged 18 and over, whatever their standard.

Players are organised into groups of six to eight, of a similar level, and they arrange their own matches at a mutually convenient time. A round lasts eight weeks and costs £18.

Any court that suits both players can be used, including the popular courts at Rosedale Park, Hayes, and Fassnidge Park, Uxbridge - and all the park courts in Hillingdon are free.

Tennis is the third most followed sport in the UK, according to research, but the number of adults taking part has declined by a quarter in the last ten years.

Round one in Hillingdon runs from: Thursday, July 12, to Wednesday, September 5. To find out more, visit https://localtennisleagues.com/rosedalepark
