RESIDENTS, schools and businesses in the borough are invited to enter the annual Hillingdon in Bloom competition before Saturday, June 30.

Gradening experts will visit every entry throughout the summer to judge the winners for each category.  

The winners will be announced at the autumn show on Saturday, September 15, at the Great Barn, Ruislip. There are prizes for each category.

Best first time entrant

Best window box - boxes must be on, or attached to, the house window sill and not a free standing container

Best hanging basket

Best balcony - best display on an open fronted balcony

Best bloomin' business

Best school project/display - planted out and showing evidence of being cared for by the children

Best community project (residential street) - group entry to include a minimum of four adjacent properties working together to create an overall garden display

Best display (includes novelty display) - for an exhibit within a garden that incorporates temporary planting and/or garden ornaments and structures

Roome Cup - awarded to the garden judged to be making the greatest contribution to wildlife conservation

Best residential garden - this can include a rear garden only if it is clearly visible to the passing public

New for this year are: best tree pit garden: brighten up your street or road through the addition of planting around the base of a tree.
