Volunteers prepare for charity abseil for St Luke's Hospice

VOLUNTEERS are preparing to conquer their fears and abseil down the side of a Harrow hospital to raise money for a Kenton charity.

The daredevil fundraisers have signed up for the charity stunt to raise funds for St Luke's Hospice by propelling themselves down a 90ft wall at Northwick Park Hospital.

One of the people who have put themselves forward in Jeanne Phillips, a long-time Parkinson sufferer from Hillingdon.

Having suffered from the disease for the last four years, Ms Phillips is a keen abseiler and is always willing to sign up to a charity stunt to raise money for the hospice.

She said: “I may shake a little more than most at the top of the wall, but feel really safe and delighted that I can do my bit for such a worthy cause.”

Last year's charity abseil helped to raise £8,000 for the hospice, in Kenton Grange, and it is hoped this year's will be even more successful.

The event, on Saturday, February 13, is running between 10am and 4pm, and it is not too late for volunteers to get involved.

If you would like to take part in the abseil, you can contact Jemini Shah on 0208 382 8018 or email jvshah@stlukes-hospice.org.
