HAYES & Harlington MP, John McDonnell (Lab), has backed a campaign calling for an end to the immigration detention of children.
The OutCry! campaign, a partnership between The Children's Society and Bail for Immigration Detainees, is calling for more people to back the campaign.
The campaign says every year, the UK immigration system locks up around 1,000 children, who have often fled countries where they experienced violence, war and discrimination.
They say the effects on the children include depression, weight loss, bed-wetting and even self-harm.
Mr McDonnell said: "I wholeheartedly back this campaign. Every day my colleagues in my constituency office and I are dealing with tragic cases of families and individuals being locked up in this way without ever committing a crime."
"I have been working with Bail for Detainees now for a number of years and will continue to support this campaign."
