Council showcases life in the borough

THE first in a series of films featuring residents telling their stories of life in Hillingdon have been launched by Hillingdon Council. The five 2-minute films feature residents each accessing different council services and their positive experiences of their local authority.

From setting up community markets with the backing of the council to help with buying their first house; each resident has their own story to tell and their own experiences to share.

The first of the five short films, which are being launched on the council's website throughout February, features Cherry Deol and her husband Mintu who live in Uxbridge and have a young family. They tell us how the children’s services available through Hillingdon Council are helping them make the most of their children’s early years.

Cherry was delighted to take part in the film and talk about the services that her family access. She commented: "This area is excellent for childcare. The kids have made friends at the centre I attend, and I have too, people really love it as we are all in the same boat. My friends who don't live in Hillingdon are very envious, they don't have anything like this."

Hugh Dunnachie, Chief Executive of Hillingdon Council commented: "When creating these films we felt it was important that the residents of Hillingdon were given a voice to share their positive experiences of their local council. We are here to ultimately serve the residents of Hillingdon and we strive each day to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do. I think these films show that we are on the right track and making positive differences in people's lives."

The first film is now available on the council's website and a new film will be available to view each week for the next five weeks. Visit the council's website at www.hillingdon.gov.uk.
