YOUNG Hillingdon readers and their parents are invited to celebrate 20 years of Bookstart, the world-renowned reading programme that gives free books to babies, toddlers and three-year-olds.
Since 1992, Bookstart has been working to ensure that children are able to experience the gift of reading. To mark this, the borough is putting on two weeks of special events for young readers, including story and rhyme sessions, library coffee mornings and Bookstart parties.
There will also be a competition within each library to sign up the youngest new member, who will receive a special Bookstart prize. Hillingdon people are also being encouraged to sign a pledge to share 20 books in 2012.
