Hillingdon's special tribute to the Queen
HILLINGDON people have sent a heartfelt message to the Queen following hundreds of celebrations across the borough for her diamond jubilee.
The borough sent a letter of congratulations to Her Majesty, signed by the leader of the council Ray Puddifoot and the mayor, Cllr Michael Markham. It is a first for Hillingdon.
It is now on display in the mayor’s parlour.
Many residents feel they have a special relationship with the Queen as she stepped on Hillingdon soil for the first time as Queen when returning to the UK from a foreign visit. She flew into RAF Northolt in 1952.
The letter recalls this honour and thanks her for her ‘example, faithfulness and devotion to the nation’.
“This message encapsulates that affection and the long relationship Hillingdon has with the Queen," the Mayor said.
“The hundreds of Jubilee celebrations held across the borough last month showed how highly residents regard Her Majesty.”
