Primary school places offered to all Hillingdon youngsters

Hillingdon Times: Important years: the first few at school Important years: the first few at school

ALL Hillingdon primary age children are to get a school place this year.

An increasing demand all over London meant Hillingdon had to create additional space within 15 of its schools to accommodate the children due to start this month.

The challenge of completing the work in the summer break was accomplished and all those who applied can now attend.

Six primary schools have already received temporary classrooms, and more work is planned to keep up with the ever-rising numbers, including the building of two new primary schools in Uxbridge and at Lake Farm, Hayes.

Leader Ray Puddifoot said: “I am delighted the council has risen to this difficult challenge. I would like to thank the schools for their co-operation, and also our staff and contractors, many of them local, for the huge effort they have made to deliver this programme on time.”
