A 20-YEAR-OLD is continuing the celebrations after winning his third award for an act of bravery.

Luke Turner, when working as a passenger escort for Hillingdon Council, stopped the mini bus he was travelling in from veering out of control.

The driver suffered a massive heart attack and was slumped over the wheel and Luke took over, preventing a multi car pile-up.

He saved the lives of two elderly passengers who were on the mini bus.

He was nominated for a bravery award at the Local Government Channel awards and was announced as a winner yesterday.(Thursday) Last year, Hillingdon Council named Luke employee of the quarter for his actions and on Tuesday, July 2 he won another bravery award at the council's annual staff awards .

Speaking to the Hillingdon Times after winning his third award, Luke said: "I really don't know what to say.

"I am surprised I have won again. Compared to the other nominations, what I did seemed like nothing and there were others I thought deserved the award because they had done a lot more than what I did.

"I just think I was lucky."

Luke said he received another shiny glass trophy which he intends to add to his collection.

Hugh Dunnachie, chief executive of the council, said: "Luke is an excellent example of the many unsung heroes working within councils.

"He acted above and beyond his job role and we are all very proud of him. I would like to thank all residents, local newspaper readers, council staff and everyone else who voted for Luke and helped him get the recognition he deserves."
