RESIDENTS are set to take up lessons to learn the fine art of carrying out direct action.

Training sessions, to prepare for action if expansion plans at Heathrow Airport are given the go-ahead, will take place in the borough at weekends over the next few months.

Participants will be learning non-violent moves from chaining themselves to fences and climbing walls.

John Stewart, chairman of the campaign group HACAN said he plans to recruit the services of Seeds for Change, an expert group which helps campaign groups prepare for action.

The venues, dates and times for the workshops are still to be confirmed.
