What a cracking game of football Vicarage Road played host to on Saturday.

Watford and Bournemouth played out a thoroughly entertaining 2-2 draw, in what was an end-to-end game - especially in the second half. It was a fantastic encounter between two very evenly matched sides and a draw was probably a fair result on the basis of things.

Both teams had chances to win it but I think a draw was a fair result, after what was a fairly even game.

The Hornets will be disappointed with the goals they gave away and I felt Walter Mazzarri’s men looked rather fragile at the back at times.

Bournemouth were finding a lot of space out wide and once again, we conceded from a-cross from a wide area.

However, I do feel that four at the back is the way forward and hopefully Mazzarri can work on our defending during the international break which is now upon us.

No, I don’t like being too critical on our own players, especially when it’s Odion Ighalo. Since arriving back in the summer of 2014 from Udinese, he’s evolved into one of my favourite players and he’s contributed so much in his two years at the club.

On Saturday though I thought he was fairly anonymous once again and it’s fair to say that he just isn’t at it at the moment.

I thought the Nigerian had good games against West Ham and Manchester United, aside from his miss against the Red Devils, but his performances against Burnley and Bournemouth just haven’t been good enough.

When we’ve got a player like Isaac Success on our hands it becomes increasingly difficult to leave him out of the side, especially when you’ve got one of our strikers underperforming at the moment. Success came on and changed the game once again on Saturday.

His frightening pace and unpredictability makes him so hard to play against because you just don’t know what he is going to do next.

He scored a magnificent goal, leaping like a salmon to head the ball past Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc to put us back on level terms.

He nearly had another later on in the game, but he was inches away from connecting with Nordin Amrabat’s teasing cross. Success was just magnificent when he came on and he’s got a very bright future ahead of him.

It’s come to a point now where the majority of supporters will be disappointed if he doesn’t start our next game and Mazzarri surely can’t leave him on the bench after another promising appearance from the Nigerian youngster.

The international break is, sadly, now upon us but as much as I hate the two week break without Watford playing, it’s probably come at a good time for the Hornets.

It gives Mazzarri time to work with our players on a few things (hopefully the defending of crosses and set pieces) and it might also aid us in terms of our injury problems.

Hopefully by the end of the two-week break, some of our injured players, like Daryl Janmaat and Craig Cathcart who are important cogs in this Watford side, will be available or close to a return for the Golden Boys.

If we can tighten up at the back in the coming weeks, then I feel Watford can push for a top 10 finish without a shadow of a doubt.  It’s certainly going to be an exciting season, that’s for sure.

Come on you ‘Orns!
