Tom Cleverley has completed a medical ahead of putting pen to paper on a loan deal to join Watford until the end of the season.

The deal will see Cleverley, who has struggled for game time at Everton this season, return to Vicarage Road for a second spell after previously playing for the club in the 2009-10 season.

Hornets fans will hope he can replicate the form which saw him win the club’s player of the year award during his previous loan spell.

The imminent arrival of Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United means first team chances at Everton look increasingly unlikely for Cleverley.

He has made 32 league appearances since moving to Goodison Park in 2015 and has not featured for the club since Boxing Day.

The 27-year-old could be in line to make his debut on Saturday when Watford entertain Middlesbrough at 3pm.
