Walter Mazzarri wants his side to win against Middlesbrough this weekend for Watford legend Graham Taylor.

The Hornets' greatest manager Taylor passed away today and the club will pay their respects at an emotional Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Head coach Mazzarri said: "We have already many reasons why we need to win the game on Saturday.

"On top of this now we’ve got Graham Taylor which gives us an extra reason why we need to win the game against Middlesbrough. Together with the fans we know we have to go on the pitch and give everything we’ve got to obtain the maximum result."

Taylor led the Hornets to their best season in the top flight after finishing second in the 1982-3 campaign.

Under Taylor, Watford reached the FA Cup final for the only time in their history with the side beaten 2-0 by Everton in 1984.

He guided the club from the Fourth Division of the Football League all the way into the top flight.

His first spell resulted in the club qualifying for Europe as they reached the third round of the UEFA Cup.

Taylor also took Watford to back-to-back promotions from the third tier during his second spell at Vicarage Road.

Mazzarri added: “I think all the players that are here know as I know who Graham Taylor was.

"But tomorrow I will make sure everyone knows and remind them this is another reason why we need to win against Middlesbrough to be able to dedicate a great game to him and hopefully a win for such a great person and a symbol of the club."
