Watford have announced season ticket price rises for most of the 14,500 season-ticket holders at Vicarage Road next season, despite the Hornets' on-field struggles in recent months.

Only West Ham and Sunderland have released their prices for next season so far, but Watford's lowest-priced offering in 2017/18 - at £403 - would rank ninth cheapest in the top-flight standings when compared with all Premier League clubs from this year.

With just five wins on home soil from 14 Premier League games this season, owner Gino Pozzo and his board have resisted the temptation to freeze prices for a second straight year - alhough around 3,000 fans will pay the same as they did in 2016/17.

That figure is made up of a number of specific subsets of fans - and applies to those who have had a season ticket since 2014/15, but did not renew during the earlybird period in 2015/16.

But for most of those deciding whether to renew, they will have a price rise of around five per cent to muster.

It is an increase largely in line with inflation, accounting for last season's freeze, but would be easier to justify had the Hornets not served up relegation form over the past four months.

One other change to the Watford's season ticket policy has come in its terms and conditions - which essentially means the club can withdraw anyone's ability to renew their ticket if they are found to have underused it.
