Swiss club FC Sion's owner, Christian Constantin, has confirmed to the Watford Observer that he will look to pursue an interest in signing Valon Behrami this summer.

Constantin had previously spoken to the Swiss press of his desire to bring Behrami back to his native country, 14 years after he left for Genoa in 2003.

Sources close to the club have indicated head coach Walter Mazzarri believes the 31-year-old will struggle to cope with the rigours of a full-throttle anchorman role for another year, and he has already missed a considerable chunk of this season through injury.

Behrami is also believed to have a break clause in his deal, which runs until summer 2018, allowing it to be cut short a year early - and that loophole is one Constantin is looking to take advantage of.

"I have known Valon for a while from when he played in Switzerland before," he told the Watford Observer. "If he wants to come to us, we've got an interest in him.

"He's a good player, an international player, and is someone who interests us.

"We have a lot of confidence in him, he’s a good guy. I haven’t already spoken to him, we’ve got to discuss it going forward."
