Former Watford defender Joel Ekstrand has been released by soon to be League One side Rotherham United.
The 28-year-old joined the Millers on a free transfer in February last year, but has made just one appearance for the club during a 2016/17 campaign which also saw him loaned out to Bristol City.
United finished rock-bottom of the Championship table on just 23 points, and Ekstrand, who spent three years at Vicarage Road, is one of eight players to be allowed to leave New York Stadium.
“We wish all the lads who are leaving the very best for the future,” Rotherham boss Paul Warne told the club website.
“I wish all the lads every success with their next move.”
News of Ekstrand’s departure comes a day after Watford icon Lloyd Doley ended his stay with Colchester United after being released by the League Two outfit.
The defender took to twitter to conform the news and thank Colchester’s fans and staff.
Yes I've left @ColU_Official it's been a pleasure wanna thank all the lads staff and fans 4 making me at feel at home. All the best. U's 🙌🏿
