It never rains, but it pours. What better tonic after a three-game losing streak? A trip to Goodison Park wouldn't be top on Walter Mazzarri's list.

Everton have again toiled in midtable this season but that's not for the quality of their home form, which if taken in isolation would lift them into a Champions League spot.

In fact, victory tonight will set a club record for home Premier League wins in a season.

But it's not been easy for Ronald Koeman in his first season away from the south coast, but the Toffees are on their way up after a good start, and a shaky middle.

Destined a top-seven finish which will take them into Europe next year, an assault on the top four has never looked likely at Goodison Park, but after two difficult years on the outskirts of Stanley Park, progression is being made.

Team news

Morgan Schneiderlin could return to the Everton ranks after two games out injured, although Maarten Stekelenberg is definitely out with a groin problem.

Joel Robles will continue between the sticks in his absence.

Man to mark

Watford Observer:

Mason Holgate is a real handful... No, there's only one man who this could be - Premier League top-scorer Romelu Lukaku.

If he continues to hold off on signing a new contract and, as has been rumoured, leaves in the summer, tonight will be his final goodbye at Goodison Park, so the big Belgian will likely be in the mood for goals.

Then again, he rarely isn't. 24 goals in 34 league starts is some feat, and although the man dubbed Beast hasn't scored in three games, don't be fooled.

The Watford connection

Watford are unbeaten against Everton since their return to the Premier League, picking up two draws last season and a dramatic 3-2 win at Vicarage Road in December.

Prior to that, you would need to go all the way back to 1987 to find a Hornets victory, when Luther Blissett's diving header and a late winner from Mark Falco rendered Adrian Heath's opener for Everton irrelevant in a 2-1 win.

What they've said

Watford Observer:

Ronald Koeman has urged his side to break new ground in their final home game of the season and set a new record, which would amount to an impressive 13 wins from 19 at Goodison Park.

He said: “We have had great support from our fans and it would be great to give them a win in our last home game.

“It has been a tough place to come for most of the teams in the Premier League and we will be out for our 13th win out of 19 home games. That would be great, a strong home record for the season.

“We know evening games under the floodlights are nice. It was an unbelievable night with a great atmosphere when we beat Arsenal.

"Friday night is maybe a different one to play football but it is our last home game and we want to win because it is nice for the fans to finish with that.”
