Outgoing head coach Walter Mazzarri has one parting wish for his players - that they pick up the final-day result they "deserve" against Manchester City tomorrow.

Pep Guardiola's expensively-built squad are unlikely to roll over at Vicarage Road with Champions League football still not mathematically assured.

But with Mazzarri's stint as head coach ending on Sunday, the match has gained extra significance for the home side, too, and the Italian feels both he and his players deserve a good result against the Citizens.

He said: "That would be the best present the players could give me. When you asked me if I spoke with them, of course I tried to take out of them to give all the pride they have and show it.

"If they play similarly as we did with Chelsea and Liverpool and Everton, but have a bit more attention to individual moments, the result can come. I think we deserve it, and I think I deserve it as well.

"Many of the Under-23s and youngsters will be on the bench on Sunday, and I am happy that I have given them their Premier League debuts this season.

"Even though there were many injuries, it allowed me to put some players in for the first time. Mason in the FA Cup, too. These people will be the future of Watford."
