Former Watford under-23 boss Harry Kewell has been appointed head coach at League Two side Crawley Town.
The Australian, who had a successful playing career with Leeds United and Liverpool, left Vicarage Road last month after a string of poor results in charge of the Hornets’ development side.
Crawley have been without a manager since Dermot Drummy left the club by Mutual consent with one game remaining last season.
While the job will be Kewell’s first in a senior management role, Crawley’s director of football Selim Gaygusuz believes he has all the qualities required to thrive.
"During his interview Harry showed us great passion - that's needed to make this team move onwards," he told the club website.
The 38-year-old will be charged with improving on the Reds below-par showing, which saw them finish 19th last term.
