Watford are close to signing Montpellier Striker Steve Mounie, according to national reports.

The Hornets have been linked with the 22-year-old for a fee in the region of £13 million.

They are not the only Premier League side said to be interested in the young forward, with West Bromwich Albion also reportedly eager to get his signature.

However, the Benin international is understood to want a move to London in the summer transfer window.

Fulham, who just missed out on the Championship play-off final last season, had also enquired about Mounie but it is said he wants to join a Premier League side.

Mounie started in the Montpellier academy and made his first-team debut in October 2014.

He spent 2015/16 on loan at Ligue 2 side Nimes and ended up their top goalscorer, netting 11 times.

He then moved back to the south of France where he scored 14 goals for his parent club last season.
