Watford are still on the hunt for Napoli midfielder Allan, according to reports in Italy, but it is understood the player is still unlikely to entertain a move to Hertfordshire.
The Hornets were linked with the Brazilian late last week, when his agent Claudio Vagheggi revealed their interest to the Italian press.
But despite assurances the 26-year-old was happy in Naples, reports on the continent continue to suggest Watford are looking to bring him to Vicarage Road.
Allan became more of a squad player during the second half of last season at Napoli, starting only half of their Serie A games across the whole season.
But in addition to the words of his agent, sources familiar with the player have made clear to the Watford Observer he would be likely to view a move to Watford as too much of a step down in his career.
