Real Sociedad will provide Watford's first opponents in the Graham Taylor trophy this summer, travelling to Vicarage Road on August 5.
The Spanish side, whose alumni include Xabi Alonso and Antoine Griezmann, finished sixth in La Liga last season, ensuring them qualification to this year's Europa League group stage.
The trophy had originally been scheduled for the previous week, against Aston Villa, but issues with relaying the Vicarage Road pitch meant that friendly was forced to be switched to Villa Park.
Real Sociedad, known as La Real ("The Royals"), are managed by former Barcelona assistant Eusebio, and include former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela and Southampton striker Juanmi among their ranks.
